t's
a new millennium, and we as a nation, a state, and a country, are still
addressing our urgent housing needs with large tracts of resource depleting
L-shaped Ranch Burgers, Taco Deco and other forms of nostalgia prevalent
in the 19th century when the earth's entire population measured 16% of
it's current numbers. Furthermore, we are developing this sprawl as if
the equally urgent threat of environment demise was not a critical issue
facing the world today.
The people at M:OME, a collective devoted to new ideas in housing are
addressing crucial issues of housing and environment simultaneously while
creating in a form that expresses our collective moment in history, the
21st century. As a consequence, M:OME has developed a collection of modern
sustainable and affordable homes that continue to save the owner money
throughout the years via low life-cycle costs. Going further, all of this
comes without sacrificing the modern conveniences we have all come to
appreciate.
The concept is simple.
M:OME developed a repeatable design incorporating an economical,
efficient steel structure, straw bale infill, and proven sustainable
technologies.
In other
words, M:OME resides at the confluence of the speculative housing
market, economical metal building industry, and the custom self-sustaining
architecture community. The mission is to bring environmentally
friendly housing to a wider market.
Imagine a home that is easy to build, but offers many options. Imagine
a home that generates it's own electricity, hot water and heat.
Imagine a home that passively
cools without the use of air conditioning. Imagine a home that enjoys
zero out-gassing and toxins, but is wired to the teeth to allow live/work
scenarios. Imagine a home with a modern floor plan and loft-like options.
